Back here in the Square Meals kitchen we are hunkering down for Thanksgiving. Orders have started pouring in and we are getting more and more excited to sit down to a good meal with the people we like best, but not before we make sure your feast is taken care of first! Take a look at our menu and begin planning for your very own Stress-Free Thanksgiving! We have something for everyone, vegetarian and gluten-free diets included. Order by November 9 (next Friday!) if you want a free-range, locally raised turkey or November 16 without the turkey….it’ll be here before you know it!
Next week’s menu features a few of our favorite dishes with influences from all over the globe. We first fell in love with Shaking Beef at Charles Phan’s venerable Slanted Door restaurant. It’s balance of sweet, salty, tangy flavors paired with tender beef makes it a dish everyone loves at first bite! We’re pairing it with Ginger-Cilantro Basmati Rice and Roasted Winter Squash with a punchy Lime-Chili Dressing. We’ve also come up with a twist on the English classic, Fish & Chips. We’re coating grouper with a crispy panko exterior and baking it- all the crunch without touching a deep-fryer. Try it with our Sweet Potato Oven Fries and Pickled Jalapeno Tartar Sauce! The French have given us many a culinary gift, the humble gratin is their proof that simplicity can result in amazing. Thinly sliced heirloom potatoes, cheese and fresh herbs come together to create a creamy, comforting dish- just add a simple salad and voila, a bistro at your dinner table. We could never ignore Italy and pay homage in not one, but two ways this week. First up is our Medley of the Week: Autumn Vegetable Bagna Cauda- a beautiful salad of pristine fall vegetables- carrots, baby fennel, broccoli rabe florets, radishes and radicchio bathed in a traditional lemon-garlic dressing studded with minced anchovies. We continue our love affair with lasagna- this time with layers of fresh tomatoes, roasted red peppers, basil and mozzarella cheese- baked until golden and bubbly. What’s not to love about that?!
